Pinch, Punch, First of the month and no returns.
Happy Imbolc or St Brigid's day depending on your beliefs. I'm not sure what there is to be happy about as down our street the druggies act with impunity, dealing and fighting in the street; No.1 son spotted some scumbag about to put a brick through the window of a parked car as he walked past but the guy ran away and at the back of us a front door has been kicked in and replaced. No sign of the police but they'll magically appear if you don't wear a mask or are deemed to have offended someone. All in all society is slowly coming apart at the seams...
Back to modelling...
The Dornier now clear coated and there is just enough to differentiate between the Nato green and the black green. That masking jigsaw will be a nightmare to complete ;) The decals are very toasty and I'm not sure f they can be used. I'll give them a go otherwise I shall have to buy an aftermarket set of decals. One thought comes to mind and I might try make templates and painting on the identification letters and numbers myself as that will allow me more scope for which theatre of operations this will represent.
I masked and airbrushed the light grey with a touch of aluminium added to the upper fuselage and wings on the Lightning. Ten minutes of airbrushing but the airbrush was stripped and cleaned three times which took thirty minutes. Another reason why I opt for paint brushing smaller kits!
The needle sticks despite cleaning so I have learned to strip it, clean and prepare for the next job each time I use it. Today there was an issue with the trigger sticking and spraying even when I removed my finger, hence the second strip down and attempt to rectify. It worked ok and after painting and cleaning and you will like this BW, I applied some beeswax to the joints for the cup and front needle protection canopy. I am not 100% happy with the paint but we'll see once it dries how it turned out.

I also started on a new kit for the diorama I have planned and the older kit to the right came with no instructions although they can be obtained on-line as a pdf. It was cheap and I bought it eighteen months ago. I bought a second one last week and it arrived today with two sets of instructions, one in English and a second in Japanese, I made a start on it. I can work on this one as the other two builds are either drying or setting depending where I am in the build. Some of the small sub-assemblies are near the bottom of the photo and I will finish sanding and brush painting before assembling them.
Now all put away for the day as I contemplate my treat of going to the local shops and a roundabout longer walk to take me there. I had an early night last night as I've had several disturbed nights with some abdominal pain and getting up two - three times a night for the loo and then waking up at 6 a.m. left me feeling knackered. Hence my plans to change my diet and lifestyle and reintroduce more fresh fruit and vegetables plus have a proper lunch break when I return to work. Pot noodles, instant microwave meals or shop bought sandwiches aren't good for one, that is when I do stop for a hurried break whilst sat at the computer. I have a bad habit of missing lunch and having not eaten for eleven hours I eat a large meal in the evening and then I suffer for it. I also made the mistake of checking my work emails when I in-put my Sars-Cov2 test result from yesterday and I really wish I hadn't. I won't do that again!!
Time for that walk and to get some necessary groceries in.
