I started work on the van this morning when I realised I had made a major error which needed correcting.
I had fitted the wrong rear right fender and I needed to remove the old one. There are two models in this kit, the 1957 or the 1964 versions and it is the latter I am building. The wrong fender had to be chopped out and the correct one adapted to fit. Now completed and some scarlet paint brushed on as well as Vallejo grey primer on the clear parts of the bonnet (hood) which almost matches the colour of the plastic. The scarlet painted straight onto the plastic without the need for primer so I might do that for the rest of the model. It will be a base coat of off white and red but faded in parts and perhaps a bit of rust here and there before I add the hippie colours.
A beautiful bright day now the fog has dissipated but having been awake since 4 a.m. I feel absolutely knackered. Sue also had a bad night and she was up earlier than me so we are both tired. I think an early night tonight although there might be some good Halloween movies on so we will see. I like old Hammer Horror movies and I avoid the graphic blood and gore modern movies. I prefer the gradual psychological suspense and to feel the fear creeping up on you as your imagination fills in the unwritten parts. Back to the van build although it might be best to leave it well alone for now and return to it tomorrow, let the paint and glue settle.
TTFN and don’t invite the vampires in…

Definitely leave the modelling until you feel less fatigued! I always have the same problem when I am sewing when I am tired. Silly mistakes that are hard to fix.
It's lovely sunshine here too.
Got to go and polish my broom now...
