An addendum: I watched the bats flitting above our garden and two Chinese lanterns drifted over. So human aerial activity of a sort is taking place. What always astonishes me is that we live in the centre of town and there is so much fauna present. Foxes, bats and a small assortment of songbirds plus the ubiquitous seagulls and pigeons.

Each animal mentioned is possible here as well (fox is the reach), but also opossum, raccoons, rabbits , squirrels... There's over a half a dozen different kind of mammals, besides yourself, that call your property part of their territory. It's a living world.

I'd hate to find a raccoon going thro' my dustbin. They're supposed to be ornery critturs!

There is a creek about 100 feet away, so the raccoons may follow that route. I haven't seen them myself, but my neighbor Dave has. Odd, but not unusual, even being in the heart of town.
